I closed my eyes, breathing in the heavy scent of flowers, immersing myself in the gardens completely.
“This place is amazing.”
“I hoped you would like it.”
“I love it."
James pulled me into him, holding me against his chest.
“I’m glad you do,” he said, his breath saturating my hair. He kissed me softly then reached down and picked a white lily. “The lily means more than purity," he said, pressing it into my hand. “It also means the return of happiness.” He smiled, gently caressing my bruised cheek with the backs of his fingers. “Having you in my life has returned my happiness, Lily. I was a fool not to see it before, with your father.” He pressed his forehead against mine, eyes closed. “You’ve given me my life back.”
And you’ve give me mine, I thought. In more ways than one.

And here are some great Q&A's with the author!
4. The Best thing about writing is... you get to be many different people and experience a million different worlds. I thought reading was fun, but I didn't know how cool writing could be!
5. When I am not writing, I like to... play the piano, read, lay out on my deck and soak in the sun, or watch a really good story on netflix. I pick apart the stories now, and pay attention to the writing. I find it fascinating.
6. I am working on... an epic fantasy trilogy. This fantasy doesn't involve elves, hobbits, or any super mythical creatures, but there is a bit of magic and I'm having a lot of fun writing it. The first draft of the first book is done. Next step: a very thorough edit.

Seth felt air swish toward his face as whoever threw another punch. This time, he ducked and dove toward the outline of the person. It didn’t take much to knock the person to the ground. And by the touch, it didn’t take long to realize it was Carly Sue…at least a woman, as he felt her soft damp skin and curves and smelled her musky, spicy, perfumed skin. She smelled of pure romance, and it caught him off guard. It certainly wasn’t anything he had ever smelled in this house before.

“Is that you, Carly Sue?” For good measure, and maybe a little pleasure, he continued to explore her curves in the dark.

“Do you mind?” She shoved him away. “And, don’t call me Carly Sue. It’s just Carly,” she said in an angry tone, struggling against him.

It was her all right.

She scrambled to her feet, a lock of moist hair slapping him in the face.

“What are you doing here this time?” she asked.

Day 9 Valentine's Day Countdown Blitz by Loving the Book~ Banished by Kimberley Griffiths

When I was a kid I read a book a day, scribbled stories, and dreamed about having my very own book on the library shelf. I grew up in San Francisco, but now live in an adobe house on the banks of the Rio Grande with my husband and sons. I've stayed in the haunted tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland; sailed the Seine in Paris; ridden a camel in Petra; shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul; and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria, and anything old and musty and ancient with a secret story to tell.

I'm the author of 10 award-winning middle-grade and Young Adult novels, I make way too many cookies when I'm writing - and I've got the best book trailers in the universe - for reals!

Awards: Southwest Book Award, Whitney Award for Best Youth Novel, Whitney Award Finalist and Association of Mormon Letters of Art Award, Bank Street College Best Books of 2011, 2013, and 2015, a Crystal Kite Finalist, and New Mexico/Arizona Book Award Winner. Three Top 10 Lists from BOOKLIST: Top 10 Romance, Top 10 Historical, Top 10 Religion/Spirituality for 2015.

BANISHED is the epic sequel to FORBIDDEN, set in the unforgiving deserts of ancient Mesopotamia. Jayden's courage will be put to the test as she fights for her survival and the one she loves.

Jayden thought she had lost everything. After months of traveling in the desert, she discovers her beloved Kadesh is injured but still alive. However, the two must flee immediately, for the vengeful and jealous Horeb is on their trail, desperate to take Jayden back to be his bride.

The trek to the southern lands comes with heartache and danger, and as Jayden and Kadesh draw closer to their destination, she realizes that even he has been keeping secrets from her . . . ones that will change everything.

Kimberley Griffiths Little's riveting sequel to Forbidden will leave readers begging for the final installment.

Snippet Time!

With bare toes, I stepped along the spongy bank, making my way to a covert spot along the river. Quickly, I dropped my dress and entered the river.  After traveling for weeks on the desert, immersing myself was a luxury, the water dream-like against my bare skin.
The tamarisk trees rustled and a flash glittered beyond the trees. I scrambled up the bank and grabbed my dagger from its sheath, my breath raspy.
“Is someone there?” I called in a harsh whisper. My thighs were taut with nerves as I threw the dress back over my head just as Asher stepped out of the shadows. My stomach dropped sickeningly. “Have you been watching me?”
“No, my lady, no!” The young man strode forward to reassure me. “I was on watch and heard noises. I had no idea it was you. I apologize for intruding.”
Heat rose like wildfire from my toes to my damp chest, stomach queasy at the sight of him. “Do you speak the truth?”
The young man pressed a hand against his heart. “I do not lie. I had no idea you were out here. But when you walked up the bank you were the loveliest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
My mouth opened and I spluttered, “Get some sleep, Asher,” I said, making my voice brisk. “Before the camp rises.” I couldn’t get to my bed fast enough. When I lay down, my heart was still pounding.
Asher had denied it, but I knew he’d seen me rising naked out of the river.

And let's get to know the author better!

4. The best thing about writing is ... typing The End. Haha! While The End gives a huge sense of accomplishment, especially after months of hair-pulling angst, I love those moments when ideas suddenly come pouring into your mind like magic.
5.  When I am not writing, I like to ....besides reading, I’ve always loved to bake, since I was a kid. Cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies—but mostly because I like to eat them!
6.  I am working on ... a Victorian-Era thriller with bits of paranormal and steam-punk.

When she meets the confident and charming Aaron Jackson, she weaves a new history for herself to fit into his seemingly perfect life. But the past refuses to stay where it belongs, causing a rift between their contrasting worlds.

Bound by their shared and damaged youth, Kate is forced to choose sides, and fast. The final act is almost here, and time is running out.

Erica Kiefer’s debut novel Lingering Echoes was published by Clean Teen Publishing in November 2013. She continued the series with Rumors (A Lingering Echoes Prequel) and her newest release Vanishing Act. All of her books can be read as stand-alone contemporary YA fiction, touched with romance, emotional drama and suspense. With a degree in Recreation Therapy from Brigham Young University, Erica’s experiences working with at-risk youth have influenced the realistic and relatable nature of her writing. Her first inspirational non-fiction entitled Borrowed Angel (published in April 2014 with Currawong Press) describes the loss of her infant son and her journey towards healing.

Married since 2005, Erica resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with her four children and can often be found satisfying her sweet-tooth with chocolate-chip cookies and a glass of milk. One day, she hopes to dust off her collegiate rugby skills and dive back into the game.

Facts about the Author

1.      When I am not writing, I like to get wrapped up in TV dramas with my husband once the kids are all asleep and the house is quiet! But I do love capturing the funny and tender moments happening all around me every day, in between the teasing, tears, and frustrations of my little ones. (I didn't specify whose tears and frustrations because it's often a combination of all of us!) I also love exercising outside with my Boot Camp friends.

2.      I am working on balancing my life! Writing had to take a back seat this past year after my son was born and I had three kids ages four and under to love and care for. Now I'm finally getting the urges to write again and finding a way to insert that into my life right now. This new series will be another contemporary romance that, so far, includes a secret, unethical adoption that rises to the surface when a stranger turns herself in to the police for the death of her child years ago.
